Are you EXTRA – Ordinary?

Written by Mike Handcock, founder of Rock Your Life  www.rockyourlife.net

My life revolves around air schedules. So far in 2006, I’ve logged over 170,000kms in air travel. At an average of 850kms per hour, that is 200 hours in the air, and probably another 50 on the ground waiting. But I am not complaining. Far from it. My travel enables me to meet the most extra – ordinary (and I separate the word for a reason) people. People who are just ordinary Joe’s are doing so much extra with their lives than ordinary people. Let me introduce you to some of them and tell you their story. Read more of this post

How Loud Do You Play?

Written by Mike Handcock, founder of Rock Your Life  www.rockyourlife.net

Having played in a rock band into my 20s, the one thing guitar players want to be is loud. I had a 1965 split channel Marshall 100 watt amplifier with two Quad boxes (for you non ‘musos’, that means eight speakers). This thing’s volume literally went to eleven.

Too Tame, Too Clean

Jim Marshall was a drummer who opened his own music shop in 1960, after having taught drums to people such as Mitch Mitchell from the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In 1965 Jimi Hendrix, on his first visit to the UK, met with Marshall and after playing with the amplifier said he would use them exclusively. Marshall, in his biography The Father of Loud, claims that Hendrix was a nice bloke because, unlike other musicians, he actually offered to pay for all the gear. Today, Marshall is the most recognised rock amplifier in the world. Read more of this post

Limiting Beliefs Are Lies We Accept

Eat Up!

What are the words we are carrying in our heads from parents, grandparents or teachers that influenced us so much when we were young? Do they really serve us? Isn’t it time to let them go? I recall a few things from my childhood that didn’t serve me then, although they were said with the best of intentions, and they don’t serve me now.

‘Eat up all on your plate. Don’t you know there are starving people in Africa?’ It didn’t matter how much I ate, it didn’t help the starving people. In fact, all that happened was that I’ve ended up with a life-long battle of trying not to eat everything on my plate so as to keep my weight down. Read more of this post

What the ‘Bleep’ are you listening to?

Written by Mike Handcock, founder of Rock Your Life  www.rockyourlife.net

For those of you that haven’t seen What the Bleep?, it is a movie about quantum physics and discusses one of my favourite topics: Are we really here?

Many years ago, after a visit to Egypt where I noticed that the Sphinx is modelled on a Nubian face, I started to think about how all the technology existed to make such a stunning work and what happened to it. There is no doubt that much of the learning that was around in the BC era was destroyed in the razing of the library at Alexandra, and even more with the fall of the Roman Empire, but I still mused on the thought: where did the technology that built it go? Ways To Find Inspiration

Written by Mike Handcock, founder of Rock Your Life  www.rockyourlife.net

Okay, so creators create. We all know that, but each and every one of us is creative in our own way. According to Dr YKK Results Foundation’s global creativity expert based in Kuala Lumpur, we are all untapped creators. But where do we get our inspiration?

I thought I was the only crazy one. I actually have some of my best ideas in the shower. Recently I found out one of my friends is the same. He says he finds showering so relaxing, his mind opens and he can see new ways of doing things or possible solutions to problems he could not see before. Read more of this post
